I took a time to find this solution so I decided to post here for help the community.
Set an environment variable GRADLE_OPTS to the value of -Dorg.gradle.jvmargs=-Xmx2018M
$ export GRADLE_OPTS=-Dorg.gradle.jvmargs=-Xmx2048M
